This was exactly the case during a recent drydock project, where the condition of a vessel's hatch cover wheels was assessed after the hatch covers were landed ashore. Following the inspection, it became clear that the wheels had reached the end of their service life and required urgent replacement.
The challenge was straightforward: limited time, limited budget, and no room for delaying the drydock schedule.
Reverse Engineering and Manufacturing
After receiving the dimensions and technical details from the vessel, our workshop team immediately started production.
The process began with solid steel round bars. Through a combination of CNC turning, milling, machining, pressing, and assembly operations, the raw material was gradually transformed into fully finished hatch cover wheels ready for installation.
Each stage was carried out in-house at the Adamar Workshop, allowing us to maintain full control over production quality and lead time.
Time-Critical Drydock Support
In drydock projects, delays can be extremely costly. For this reason, fast communication between the vessel, our field representatives, office team, and workshop is essential.
Thanks to the close coordination between our boarding teams in Tuzla and Yalova Shipyards and our workshop personnel, technical details were transferred immediately and production commenced without delay.
The wheels were completed and delivered before the hatch covers were reinstalled, allowing the vessel to continue its drydock schedule without interruption.
